I didn’t know what to expect when I joined OCIA. I thought I was just learning about the Church, but instead I met a group of remarkable people whose stories of faith and conversion changed the way I saw everything.
I started First Light to share those stories and to keep learning from them—to see how grace moves quietly through ordinary lives.
Each conversation is part of a living record of renewal within the Church, a glimpse of how God is still calling people home today.

Alexander Francis, creator of First Light
I’m Alexander Francis, a parishioner at the Church of St. Ignatius Loyola in New York City. On the Giving Liturgical YouTube channel, I sit down with people who, like me, have encountered God’s invitation and found their home in the Catholic Church.
Each conversation is a simple and personal exchange, intimate and reverent, meant to illuminate the beauty of conversion.
I hope you enjoy these conversations as much as I have, and that they remind you of the many ways God continues to draw people home to the Church.
Peace,
Alexander Francis
